The President of Colombia, Iván Duque, described Nicolás Maduro as the “Latin American Vladimir Putin” who has generated pain, death and a massive exodus in our hemisphere.
The Colombian head of state, who is scheduled to meet with the president of the United States, Joe Biden, assured that Colombia’s position and within his government will not change and will continue to warn about the crimes of Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship.
Likewise, he announced that together with other presidents they expanded the complaint against Maduro before the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes related to crimes against humanity, with abuses against citizens violating their human rights.
During his visit to the United States, Duque held a meeting with the Venezuelan ambassador, Carlos Vecchio, in which they agreed on a firm position regarding Nicolás Maduro’s status as dictator.
They also urged the need for all of Venezuela’s allies to insist on a democratic transition leading to free, fair and verifiable presidential elections as soon as possible.
